What is the Young Millionaires Program?

The Young Millionaires Program is a summer business/entrepreneurship program available to youth aged 9 to 16 which provides youth the opportunity to explore entrepreneurship. The program offers youth training, mentoring, and ongoing support, that will assist them to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment.

Youth develop and expand their entrepreneurial skills through a series of workshops containing lessons and activities on basic business fundamentals such as; creativity and innovation, entrepreneurship, idea development, marketing, expenses and revenue, record keeping, customer service, and public speaking.

Applicants are approved based on completion of their application, business idea, business plan, interest, and enthusiasm. Once applicants complete the workshops, a detailed business plan, and an interview, they are accepted into the program. They are presented with a non-repayable start-up grant of up to $150 dollars for sole proprietorship and up to $200 for a partnership.

The Young Millionaires Program encourages:
Introduction and development of fundamental business skills in youth
Building strong problem solving skills to tackle challenges
Recognition of the opportunities that can come from failure
Establishing a sense of responsibility, independence , and confidence
Supporting young entrepreneurs in realizing their dreams
The Young Millionaires Program has been operating since 1992, and is funded through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency’s (ACOA) Business Development Program and Innovation PEI.
